Skilled Nursing

Madison County Memorial Hospital provides inpatient, swing bed, and hospice care services.

The Nursing Department provides nursing services guided by professional standards and judgement, with respect for patient dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and patient rights as required by law. Care is provided by our team of trained registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical technicians, and certified nursing assistants.

Our goal is to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible while following the medical care plan designed for you by our hospitalist team. Your health and comfort are important to us and our goal is to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

If being admitted by your provider, please be sure to bring your orders with you to the admissions department.

Helpful Hints

  • Bring a complete list of current medications and dosages
  • Bring a list of current allergies
  • Do not bring alcohol or other drugs
  • Leave jewelry or other valuables at home

Swing Bed (short-term rehab) Program

Our Swing Bed Program (short-term rehab) provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patient who no longer require a hospitalization stay for an illness or injury but are not yet ready to return home. The swing bed program allows you extra time to recover from surgery, illness or injury while receiving individualized care from our team of hospitalists, nurses, case managers, physical, occupational and speech therapists, respiratory therapists and dietician/nutritionists, who all work closely with the patient, family, and providers to support recovery, restore prior level of function, and ensure a safe transition home.
Within the comfort and familiarity of your local hospital with spacious, private rooms, and with the attention and dedication of our care team, the Swing Bed Program allows patients to heal close to home while receiving the skilled care they need.

To Qualify for Swing Bed (short-term rehab) Services:

Traditional Medicare Plans:
  • A consecutive 3-night qualifying acute hospital stay is required prior to swing bed admission.
  • The 3-night qualifying acute hospital stay must have occurred within 30 days prior to swing bed admission.
  • The swing bed stay must be in the same spell of illness as the qualifying stay.
Medicare Advantage Plans:
  • A 3-night qualifying acute hospital stay is not required prior to swing bed admission.
  • A request for authorization for swing bed admission will be submitted by the hospital to your insurance company.

All swing bed referrals’ insurance and clinicals are reviewed prior to being accepted into the swing bed program.
