The MCMH Office of Emergency Management will keep incident command team members, departmental emergency management coordinators, senior leaders, affiliates and external partners up to date on how the MCMH’s Hospital Incident Command Team (HICT) is actually responding to a specific incident or disaster via this web page. Madison County Florida is under a storm watch — Officials from our local Emergency Operations Center, Department of Health-Madison, and Madison County Memorial Hospital are closely monitoring the approaching storm-Elsa.
“Let me be clear that the health and wellbeing of our community is our most important priority. We are working closely with authorities to ensure the hospital is prepared to respond in case of an emergency,” said Tammy Stevens, CEO at Madison County Memorial Hospital. Actions being taken at this time to ensure the safety and security of the public and the hospital include the following strategies:
- The Incident Command Team has been mobilized to ensure safety processes and protocols are in place to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Backup generators, equipment and supplies have been inventoried and proper quantities are on hand to weather the storm.
- Patient census is being audited to align partners in Madison and throughout the region in case a transfer is required.
- Communications is preparing messaging and communication tools to publish information between the hospital, staff, patients, families, and community.
Lori Evans has been assigned to work with the news media to disseminate verified information as soon as possible. Information will also be posted on our Web site at mcmh.us/emergency-response. Anyone with concerns or questions about the storm is encouraged to consult the National Hurricane Center for additional relevant information.
